Meet the Stag Beetle — named for those massive mandibles that look like antlers on a full-grown buck. One of the largest beetles in Georgia, and this one was absolutely enormous. We had to get a finger in frame just so you'd believe us.

We spotted him floating and figured we'd do our good deed for the day. Scooped him out, set him on the deck — and he immediately let us know he did not need our help, did not ask for our help, and was not grateful for our help.

Pinching. Nonstop. Zero thank you.

Completely fine. Fully alive. Furious about the whole situation.
